New W164 M-Class

The new facelifted version of the W164 Mercedes-Benz ML is now here in Malaysia from RM548,888 for the ML 350. Other than the 272 horsepower V6 ML 350, the 388 horsepower V8-powered ML 500 and the 510 horsepower ML 63 AMG will also be available but these are only for special orders.

Changes on the outside include a new bumper and new headlamps with a step in the lower edge, which continues below and around the front grille. The ML also has a new look for the underguard which makes the ML look wider.

On the rear, there is a new rear bumper, and an optional stainless steel underguard which can conceal the exhaust system.

There are also changes on the interior including door center panels that are now trimmed with ARTICO man-made leather. The in-car entertainment/telematics system has been updated to the latest version with LINGUATRONIC and also includes a charging function for multimedia devices connected to the USB port.

The New S 63 AMG

If you’ve got visions, you need the strength to realise them before others do. This strength is supplied by the world’s most powerful naturally aspirated V8 production engine in the S 63 AMG. Its 6.3 litre AMG V8 engine develops 386 kW (525 hp) and peak torque of 630 Nm. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in only 4.6 seconds. Equally as impressive, at least, is the way this power is controlled – with an AMG high-performance composite braking system, AMG sports suspension and AMG ergonomic sports steering wheel with aluminium shift paddles.

In the cockpit, the AMG instrument cluster with AMG main menu, including RACETIMER, tells you, for example, the motor oil temperature and the selected gear. The S 63 AMG expresses all its power to the beholder through the AMG front apron, side skirts and rear apron. Features specific to the S 63 AMG are the AMG sports exhaust system with two oval-shaped twin tailpipes and high-sheen multi-spoke 19-inch AMG light-alloy wheels. The AMG 6.3-litre V8 engine with an output of 375 kW (510 hp) and a peak torque of 630 Nm makes the ML 63 AMG a highly entertaining performer: the new model accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in a breathtaking 5.0 seconds and goes on to reach the electronically limited top speed of 250 km/h, aided by the impressive AMG SPEEDSHIFT 7G-TRONIC transmission with its extremely short shift times. And the deceleration figures of the AMG high-performance braking system are equally impressive .

The AMG sports chassis – based on the AIRMATIC package – puts the power of the ML 63 AMG firmly down onto the road. AMG spring struts and shock absorbers ensure low roll and optimal turn-in ability whilst the AMG sports exhaust system with two sets of chromed twin tailpipes produces a powerful sound. 

On a visual level, the most powerful of all the M-Class models is distinguishable by its high-sheen 19-inch AMG light-alloy wheels as well as the AMG bodystyling consisting of a front and rear apron. Further distinguishing features include a special AMG radiator grille, wider wings and side footplates in aluminium look.

Moving inside, the ML 63 AMG features AMG sports seats with Alcantara panels in the shoulder area, which provide optimal support and, thanks to the multicontour function, the ultimate in comfort. The New E 63 AMG

The most powerful E-Class of all – the E 63 AMG – comes courtesy of the motorsport experts at Mercedes-Benz AMG. With an output of 378 kW (514 hp), the car accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.5 seconds. Because an E 63 AMG is rarely at a standstill, however, a peak torque of 630 Nm is available on tap to ensure breathtaking acceleration in any gear.

The C 63 AMG looks powerful even from the outside. The side air vents in the front apron provide an outlet for the heat from the additional oil-cooler. When equipped with the optional bi-xenon headlamps or the Intelligent Light System, the C 63 AMG features dark-tinted headlamp lenses. From the side, the high-sheen 18-inch AMG light-alloy wheels in a titanium grey finish, the shapely integral "6.3 AMG” lettering on the wings and the AMG side skirts catch your eye. At the heart of this exclusive automobile is the BRABUS SV12 S Biturbo engine. It is based on the turbocharged Mercedes 600 twelve-cylinder engine and represents the most powerful street-legal V12 engine in the world. Installing a special BRABUS crankshaft with longer stroke, combined with a bigger bore and correspondingly sized forged pistons, increases displacement from 5.5 to 6.3 liters. Further engine modifications also include precision-machining the cylinder heads and fitting them with four special camshafts.

The BRABUS S V12 S Biturbo coupe is not just the most powerful; it is also the fastest street-legal of its kind. 0 - 100 km/h in 4.0 seconds, 200 km/h after just 11.9 seconds and an electronically limited top speed of 340 km/h are all without equal.

The BRABUS S V12 S Biturbo engine is a prime example that nothing can replace displacement except more displacement. A special crankshaft with longer stroke, forged pistons with a larger diameter and an increased cylinder bore result in a displacement increase from standard 5.5 to now 6.3 liters. In addition the inlet and outlet ports of both cylinder heads are optimized for improved mixture flow. Four special camshafts also contribute to that same effect.

Aerodynamics design

SV12: The Coupe

If the SV12s is the world's fastest sedan, then the CLV12s is the world's fastest and most powerful coupe, driving at 730 hp and 340 km/h . The CLV12s has a more sporty outlook compared to the sedan, with differences basically on the specially-designed BRABUS front bumper, side skirt with illuminated light, rear bumper and sports rim.

The enormous performance of the BRABUS SV12 S Biturbo coupe places exceptionally high demands on the aerodynamic-enhancement parts that were developed in the wind tunnel. The sophisticated shape of the BRABUS front apron reduces lift on the front axle and improves engine and front brake cooling due to its large air inlet. Integrated fog lamps and high beams lend the car a characteristic appearance and further improve active safety by optimizing illumination of the road.

The BRABUS rocker panels optimize the airflow along the sides and feature integrated entrance lights for safe entering and exiting of the vehicle in the dark.
